1998 Hatteras 43 Sport Express

Hatteras' 43 Sport Express is a truly unique express cruiser in that she excel on both ends of her multi-function design. Her split personality can change from and exceptional family cruiser one day to a hard hitting fishing machine or a playful sun seeking weekender the next.  No matter the adventure of the day, they all benefit from a proven performer in hull design.  The 43 SX is built on the same hull as the popular 43 Convertible.  She can deliver top speeds and withstand the worst seas and still deliver a comfortable & stable ride.  
This huge bi-level cockpit (115 square feet) comes with rigging station , lift out fish boxes, tackle center, bait freezer, wash-downs and a large transom door for the really big ones.   Every captain will appreciate the easy access center-line companionway to engine room.   The helm level has a hardtop and can be completely enclosed for climate control on really hot or cold days.   Helm to starboard was ergonomically designed for great visibility of electronics with all the gauges, breakers and switches within easy reach.  Bridge wet bar includes refrigerator & ice-maker.  Large L-shaped lounge to port for family & friends.  
 Stepping into the cabin you almost forget you are in an express cruiser.  Interior joinery & cabinets are of a light colored oak that is a perfect upscale contrast to the teak & holly-sole and helps her feel open & airy.  The salon has amenities of a motor yacht.  The 14'3" beam help her feel roomy.  The salon has a large sofa that converts to full length high-low bunks & entertainment center.  The wide U-shaped galley to port has everything needed including a separate freezer.  Head with separate shower has some thoughtful touches like mirror cabinets & vacuflush head.  Master stateroom has center-line island queen berth with storage below and port & starboard nightstands.  Stateroom also has sky light & privacy door to head.  
   The Cooter Brown was substantially updated in 2012 with NEW Palm Beach Tower, electronics, air conditioners added &/or replaced.  She has an extra fuel tank of 150 gallons to improve range (680 gallons total).  She cruises 23 knots at 1,850 RPMs, but also has the extra horsepower on 6V92TA (625 each) when needed.  The Detroits have only 1,659 original hours.  
  The Cooter Brown also had NEW turbos and NEW D deck (starboard side) in July of 2018, NEW Hickory upper deck flooring in April of 2019 & the annual service on engines & generator was completed in June.
